When we love somebody, we always think of him, want to please him and will do everything to be with him. We think of ways to make him feel how much we love him. Same with our family, and should be the same for Allah.
The good feeling comes when they loves us back. But if they don’t, that is when the feeling of frustration starts. Loneliness and sadness follows. But that’s reality. You can never expect everybody to love you the same way you do. But Allah does.
Allah, The Most Beneficent, Most Merciful gives us unconditional love, a love that we should always be grateful for. His love is so great that He provides everything that any living thing in the world needs. He designed every single cell, every tissue and every nerve that works harmoniously with each other for a normal body function. The rain, the air, and all other creations are Allah’s manifestation of love for us.
But have we done anything for Him yet? Did we ever think of things that we could possibly do to please Him? Or thank Him?
Have we done anything to make ourselves worthy for His love?
Almighty Allah said: “Say (O Mohammad Shalallahu ‘alaihi wa Salam to mankind): “if you (really) love Allah then follow me (i.e. accept Islamic monotheism, follow the Qur’an and Sunnah), Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” Qur’an 3:31.
We could express our love for Allah by believing in His Prophet, following the Message, and obeying what Allah has revealed to Him.
A man said to the Prophet (p.): "What should I do in order to gain Allah's love". The Prophet (p.) replied: "Love what Allah and His Prophet love and detest what Allah and His Prophet detest".
Reading the Holy Quran is also one way to show that we love Him.
Uthman Radhiallahu ‘anhu narrated that the Prophet Shalallahu ‘alaihi wa Salam said: “The best among you (Muslims) are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it (to others).” Narrated by Al-Bukhari.
Make ourselves a servant for spreading Allah’s word, and share the knowledge we acquire from reading it. Let the others benefit from the wonderful things that Allah can give them.
Make ourselves purified, both external and internal.
“…Allah loves those who purify themselves.” [Al-Baqarah: 222]
Physical purity is purifying our bodies, clothes and everything that is related to our private life.
One way to spiritual purity is the act of giving to the pious, through “Zakat and Sadakat”
Allah says: "Take alms out of their property, you would cleanse them and purify them thereby". (9:103)
There are countless ways to show our love and gratitude for Allah. One can try to start by doing the five pillars of Islam, study Allah’s word, and as we learn His wonderful characteristics, there is no way we could not find desire in our hearts to search for ways to please Him.
Allah in His infinite mercy has created everything for us, both in this world and hereafter.
The most Generous by providing what we need even before we ask Him. The most Merciful, He forgives and wipes out the sins of every servant who asks forgiveness.
Who else is worthy of love, praise and worship?
